LubISS Final Conference, 28-30 Sept. 2020

We organized an international conference on lubricant impregnated slippery surfaces from 28 to 30 September 2020, at the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn, Germany. It was entitled Wetting Dynamics 2020.

It brought together experts and young researchers from the fields of wetting and interfacial phenomena, mass and heat transfer, and multiphase flows to discuss the latest advancements, challenges and new perspectives. In particular, we reviewed the wetting dynamics of lubricated, adaptive, flexible, switchable or responsive surfaces. We discussed the underlying mechanisms of the interaction between wetting dynamics, heat and mass transfer. We talked about new advanced experimental and numerical techniques, which enable detailed investigations and control of the wetting dynamics of complex liquids. Based on this cutting-edge knowledge, we will explore and investigate new directions in the field.

This conference, which was originally planned as an on-site event, was turned into a hybrid event due to the 2019 coronavirus pandemic. 100 scientists participated: 57 people decided to travel and were welcomed in person in Bonn. The others 43 attended an all virtual conference.
